The latest month long Lancashire constabulary crackdown on burglary, Operation Julius, has resulted in the arrest of 86 suspected burglars across Lancashire.
Throughout March, Lancashire police targetted premises, homes and second hand shops across the area and visited over 300 suspected burglars with a no nonsense message, that they are being watched.
The Eastern constabulary division, which includes Burnley, Nelson and Colne saw burglary fall slightly in 2012 with 2,125 reported burglaries, down from 2,143 in 2011.
Police have warned that even though the operation now finished, the fight against burglars will continue. Even with burglary at unprecedented low levels in Lancashire, the latest figures show that over 5 break ins occur every day, in Burnley, Nelson, Colne and the surrounding areas.
