Burglars not welcome in Lancashire!

A recent successful Police crackdown on burglary has seen the arrest of 43 people, 13 of which have been charged.

The campaign, run by Lancashire Constabulary is the latest in a series of operations, targetting known offenders in the county.  By patrolling routes known to be used by burglars, police have stopped cars and vans, disrupting the ability of offenders to operate and recovering £10,000 worth of stolen goods.

In addition, officers have been working in neighbourhoods, calling in on people where burglaries have taken place and providing crime prevention advice and reminding householders to ensure their homes are securely locked.

Chief Inspector Justin Srivastava said, ‘Crime is low in Eastern Division and we are continuing to work hard to reduce burglary. Most people will listen to our advice to keep their homes secure but sadly many of the crimes that do occur could have been prevented if people had followed a few basic crime prevention measures.

“I urge residents to make sure they lock their doors and windows when they leave their home and I would also appeal for them to work with us to combat crime by reporting suspicious activity.

“The message is clear. Burglars are not welcome in Lancashire and we are working with neighbouring forces to protect our local residents and prevent offenders from travelling into Lancashire to commit crime.”
